The Flat Roof Replacement project in Chicago involved the removal of the old insulation and bitumen roof. A new 4" insulation layer was installed and secured with 6-inch screws for stability and protection against future damage.
The new roof surface was installed using Firestone APP 160 Torch & Cool Modified Bitumen, a durable and weather-resistant material known for its energy efficiency. This material provides a seamless and watertight surface that protects the building from leaks and other weather-related issues.
A new curb-mounted skylight was also installed to bring in natural light and enhance the interior environment. This skylight is carefully installed to ensure proper sealing and insulation, preventing any potential leaks or energy loss.
The project aimed to provide a long-lasting and visually appealing roofing solution that improved the functionality, energy efficiency, and aesthetics of the building. With the removal of the old insulation and bitumen roof, the installation of new insulation, the use of high-quality roofing material, and the addition of a skylight, the project will greatly improve the building's overall functionality, energy efficiency, and aesthetics.
